Nurse practitioners are readily involved in ensuring hospital quality, which comprises intricate patient care, medication, bedside management, assisting with surgeries, and other vital operations. This also includes data collection and much more. Further, Nurse practitioners are involved in medical institutions’ core services, mainly in reducing risk, preventing adverse medical complications, and overseeing other hospital staff (Eisenson & Mohta, 2020). These operations aim to enhance quality services within the respective institutions in their area of practice. Patients and their families more often are discharged or finish their treatment.
At the same time, they have received education concerning their illnesses; while physicians are at the center of diagnosis, nurse practitioners bridge the gap between science and human physical interaction. Nurse practitioners ensure that patient preferences are factored in when making medical decisions., ensuring that they are respected as their treatment is ongoing. They further ensure that their health is communicated easily and in a language that they fully understand. Most of all, nurses ensure quality by offering relevant emotional support and paying attention to their physical and environmental needs.
Organizational culture is a vital part of an institution. It comprises the values, behaviors, and common vision shared with the organization’s individuals. It not only contributes to the organization’s psychology but also its business of the environment. It greatly contributes to the achievement that the organization holds dear. In this case, the attainment of quality standards in a healthcare institution. There is a clan culture in my healthcare institution setting, also referred to as family-like culture, where the staff is respectful towards each other and their seniors. Leaders are seen as mentors and offer advice and correction to their juniors where possible instead of authoritative.
This assists with team building and cohesion through employee involvement and a sense of belonging. Our institution prioritizes human resource and put across long-term techniques in the encouragement of teamwork and inclusion. There is a sense of loyalty and tradition in the workplace. There hasn’t been a warm relationship between finance management in the previous years as administrators always view each expenditure as an expense. But things have changed as Nurses have become part of boards (Eisenson & Mohta, 2020). By having a representative in the organization’s top decision-making level, quality has become a priority in making alleviating revenue loss.
Nurse leaders, for instance, the chief nursing officer, can address to the board the importance of specific expenditure (on safety) and how its effect on revenue stream and overall quality. The allocation of safety expenditure is usually a top priority at my institution. Strategies to elevate an organization to high performing status can consist of minimal tolerance of low performance. By incorporating performance evaluation methods, institutions should not put up with staff that does not meet the bare minimum standards (Eisenson & Mohta, 2020).
Further, we should ensure that the institution has an alignment among senior leaders. Misalignment inevitably leads to low HCAHPS results. Consistent leadership, as well as effective leadership training, helps the organizational relationship to be fostered. This undeniably leads to high performance within the organization. Also, setting up standards raises the expectations of employees, thereby increasing the overall performance.
