Primary care is described in various ways, but it is care that is delivered by nurses,
assistants and those who are titled as advanced practice professionals. This type of healthcare is
used and known for individuals in making an approach to see a doctor or nurse for treatment.
The focus when it comes to primary care is being able to decrease the use of specialty
physicians. When it comes to primary care clinics, they can include, but limited to individual
physician practice or multiple physician practice in either a profit or non-profit facility.
Typically, with these clinics, they see a lot of patients on daily base, for example, the local profit
facility has multiple physicians that receives an estimate of 60 patients a day. Furthermore, these
types of facilities or owned by physicians who specialize in women’s health, pediatrics,
orthopedics and oncology. As the administrator for this facility, it is important to assure that all
the needs of the organization for is best and top quality is addressed when providing care to
patients. When these type of facilities lays off an employee it hits hard and affects the team as it
increases the workload and patients are less satisfied with services. The administrator of a clinic
likes this needs to example all of their options and determines as to which one best fits not only
the organization, but the patients needs, even if it means to train everyone to be well rounded for
the organization to be successful.
When it comes to organizational changes, it is very difficult for one receptionist to take
on the heavy workload because, it will not get done in an efficient and timely manner. When
there is a heavy flow of clients and long wait times, that’s when complaints arise. When it all
boils down to a patient not being seen at the clinic and has developed an infection that needs
immediate attention, like surgery it become problematic. As the administrator of the facility, it
would be best for the organization to hire at least two more receptionist. Due to the increase
labor cost it will cost the organization, but at the end of the day it will assure that the
organization is successful. As for the administrator, there should be meetings to see how the
health of spending is affected when it comes to wages, employment and the output. When it
comes to the management team, there are decisions that needs to be made based on the
assessments whether are not they are making profit or taking a hit (Nelson, 2013). Throughout
the organization, there will be conversations in improving the quality of health care as well as
ensuring patients are safe during the improvement. To fully understand the performance levels in
the health care industry, administrators need to take the necessary measures to examine any new
changes in performance, budget and patient satisfaction to provide the best care that is possible.
