Implementation of evidence-based practice change requires considering the available resources such as adequate funding and human capital at the local level. Skilled human resource is essential during the implementation of EBP to provide leadership; hence it is necessary to understand available human capital at the local level. Knowing the community and what it needs is the first step to making a change. Understanding the available resources and what is available at the local level enables a researcher to know where change needs to be done and how the change should be made. The availability of suitable medical personnel such as physicians, nurses, and other hospital staff is compulsory to implement EPB successively at the local level (Bonham, Sommerfeld, Willging & Aarons, 2014).
Knowing if the leadership of a health care system is willing to implement EBP is also an important factor to consider. According to Green & Tones, 2009, an organization’s willingness to implement EBP promotes the accessibility of the required essential resources such funding. Knowing the culture of a health care system is also an essential factor to consider. Traditional values of a community and the health care policies used in human resources and the organizational norms are cultural practices to consider (Green & Tones, 2009). Cultural factors determine whether stakeholders cooperate with the implementation process.
I would involve the local agencies and the community in my project. The local community knows what change is best and where the change needs to be done. Involvement of the local community in my project will create goodwill that ensures successful implementation. Health care practitioners and other stakeholders collaborate in the implementation process due to the resulting goodwill. I would also consider the environmental regulatory body. Considering the laws and regulations put in place by the regulatory body to protect people’s health and safety ensures that my project does not violate them.
