Cause and Effect Essay
Introduction
No one ever thought that there would be strict social restrictions at any moment, only in sci-fi movies and comics. The past twelve months have been entirely surreal, from massive deaths of hundreds of thousands of people to the lockdowns and travel restrictions worldwide. We have gone without seeing friends and relatives for quite a long time. The covid-19 pandemic has revolutionized means of interaction. As so, many families have suffered the plague of unemployment at these very uncertain times. Misinformation campaigns concerning the virus have linked the outbreak to the Chinese habits of wild animal delicacy. This has led to rumors concerning the virus targeting the Chinese people and generally targeting East Asian descent. The virus has undoubtedly affected the everyday lives of everyone.
Subsequent Effects
Because of the Coronavirus’s airborne nature, social distancing concerns have become a requirement all through different kinds of social interactions. Social distancing means keeping a spatial distance between other people and yourself not from the same household. It has become a requirement to practice in conjunction with daily preventive actions reducing the spread of covid-19, which comprise wearing masks, refraining from touching your face with unwashed hands. Covid-19 is contracted among people in close contact with each other (within six feet) even over a short period. The disease is mainly spread through coughs, sneezes, talks, and droplets from their mouth from an infected person. This is more in the case of restaurants, schools, religious grounds, and social clubs. COVID-19 – positive individuals (at the window stage) do not exhibit the symptoms and are oblivious to the dangers they are putting on other people. Many people who enjoy outdoor social interactions have been greatly affected.
As casual work has been restricted, many people have lost their source of livelihood. This pandemic has affected the economy in three main ways: paralyzing the supply chain, production, and market disruption. Hence leading to severe financial implications on firms and financial markets. Many manufacturing firms depend on imported intermediate inputs from China and other countries affected by the disease. May business depend on sales in countries that have experienced lockdowns and grounded flights. The restriction of movement and transportation in many countries will take a toll on global companies’ profitability, especially in the manufacturing arena for many goods dependent on intermediate goods from certain regions that have been greatly affected. Tourism and travel companies have experienced losses that cannot be recovered.
As companies and businesses face disruptions of inputs and production, small business and others with less liquidity might be hit hardest. Financial markets might find it challenging to identify between a rock and a hard place specifically. This might result in risk investments by key financial players, resulting in unprofitable investments. This may weaken the trust in financial markets and instruments. A reduction in the share price of equity markets as well as corporate bond markets making investors shun away from investing from the stock markets to direct investments in government securities due to the uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic
Over thirty-six million have filed for unemployment bringing the United States unemployment rate of April to a record 14.7%, with over twenty million jobs lost last month. The European Union Gross Domestic Product has shrunk by 7.5% in 2020 (Rae, 2020). As cases rising to almost four million globally, business enterprises worldwide contend with lost revenue as supply chains have been disrupted by factory shutdowns and quarantine measures that restrict movement, thereby commerce. This can only be saved by policymakers racing to implement fiscal and monetary measures to alleviate citizens’ financial burden. This paper will address three significant effects of the pandemic.
Due to the pandemic’s lockdown restriction and social distancing laws over the past twelve months, NASA has observed a drop in air pollution over China’s Hubei province, where the outbreak began last December. If only temporarily, slow economic activities drive down emissions. Emissions are naturally expected to fall as countries close down factories, shops as well as schools. In China Carbon dioxide, emissions have been reduced by twenty-five percent. As the demand for transport fuels reduces, and the world oil market has been hit significantly, emission levels have deescalated. Early this year, during the lockdown period, there was a reduction in the daily global carbon iv oxide emissions by seventeen percent.
Globally, an emission reduction of this magnitude will not necessarily cause the levels of emission to reduce. This would only occur when net carbon four oxide emissions approach zero will the net uptake by ecosystems and oceans start reducing carbon iv oxide levels in the atmosphere. As many businesses (mostly manufacturing factories), and many public places remain closed, many people have been forced to stay home, teachers and children out of school, workers out of the factory very minimal transportation has been required during this time. This has significantly reduced the emission rates.
