What do you think are the primary factors that contribute to these rates (whether they are high or low) and influence high-risk sexual behaviors?
Media Influences. It has been reported that African American and Latino children have the highest rates of television viewing. Television programming these days have high sexual exposure of scenes and activities. High-risk sexual behavior is largely practiced in my neighborhood as a result of diverse range of factors. Media and Television having the second largest bearing, preceded by social media and the internet. As majority of teenagers have mobile phones, which makes pornographic materials available at the fingertips of their users (Negriff, 2020).
How does positive relationships with parents associate with lower teen
Pregnancy?
Positive relationships between parents and their children is extremely helpful during the growth of the child. It does not only help parents understand the frustrations of their children but also be there to guide them when it seems their losing their way. A good relationship with parents almost always indicates absence of teenage pregnancies.
What do you think were the greatest influences on her situation?
The greatest influences in Susan’s case was the absence of a mother figure. Her father is behind her a hundred percent and this indicates a good relationship with her. Despite this she fails to tell him that she is pregnant. She may have had a few bad influences from friends, media or even the internet.
How would you advocate for Susan?
Susan may have made bad choices during her teenage years but that doesn’t mean she won’t have a better life in the future. Her father should try to be there for her more and try to figure out how her daily routine runs.
What referrals would you make, or resources would you recommend?
Susan as well as her father should continue with therapy.
What ethical interventions would an advocate need to consider when working
with Susan?
Through Using cognitive behavioral therapy, Susan is able to share her problems and the counsellor might be able to get to the root of the problem.
